Webb holds on to 51-50 victory over Franklinton
Wednesday January 20, 2010
The contrasting styles made this one an intriguing game. Webb prefers to score quickly, whether it be on the break, where they are most effective, or within the first 10 seconds of a possession. The Warriors look for those quick baskets have their opponents’ makes or misses.

At the other end of the spectrum, Franklinton is well versed in halfcourt offense. The Red Rams move the ball quickly around the perimeter and patiently wait to find a cutter or gaps in zone defenses.
After building a three point lead by halftime, Webb got a big 3rd quarter from Leon Greene to take a 42-34 advantage into the final quarter. Greene scored 6 of his team high 17 points in the period all in the paint and mostly on the break.

In the 4th, Franklinton went to a press and ramped up the halfcourt defense to spark a run. All the scoring by the Red Rams during the comeback was done by electrifying junior scoring guard Kevin Williams and forward Dustin Newton.

Newton scored on jumpers, going to basket, and from the free throw line, putting in a game high 23 points. Williams’ 16 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists were not enough to complete the comeback. Franklinton’s Zach Beale was hot early, but could not get anything to fall late in the game which would have aided the Red Ram effort. Sophomore Becker Seifert chipped in 9 points for the Warriors.

Webb will host Northern Vance on Friday and Franklinton is scheduled to travel to Roanoke Rapids on the same night.
