6 three-pointers from Danny Mizerk helps secure 60-51 Wildcat victory
Friday January 22, 2010
With just under 40 seconds left, Danny Mizerk connected on a corner three-pointer, putting an end to a Broughton Cap comeback attempt. A big shot in its own right, however, this basket was the guard’s sixth trey on the night giving him a game high 24 points.

Earlier in the 4th, Broughton senior JR Owens converted a four-point play with 2:22 remaining. Owens’ big play brought the Caps to within 7 points. A couple of free throws from Connor Strickland, followed by a steal and bucket cut the deficit to 5 and made things interesting. Millbrook went 8 for 10 from the line in the 4th and Mizerk’s corner connection effectively ended the game.

The Wildcats outscored Broughton in every period, but the Caps managed to stay within striking distance. Owens led the visitors in scoring with 17 points, Keysheen Hinton added 12 points. Millbrook’s Tyrell Tate seemed to stay on the attack, finishing with 17 points. The always consistent Jarrick Brown ended with 10 points.

#13 Broughton came in looking to repeat last Friday’s performance when they knocked off then #2 Wakefield. The surging #2 Wildcats have now won 8 consecutive games and sit atop the Cap-7 at 6-1.
